Well, lets start with his students: Hannah Arendt, Hans-Georg Gadamer, Hans Jonas Karl, Löwith, Herbert Marcuse, Leo Strauss, Jan Patočka, Xavier Zubiri. Herbert Marcuse, Hannah Arent,, are thinkers that played a big role in shaping American sixties politics, art, Hippies and the American branch of the Frankfort School philosophy. Leo Strauss who taught at the University of Chicago and loved the TV Western "This Gun will Travel" is responsible for a revival of Classical Philosophy and is a hero the Neoconservatives Movement but most of all Strauss taught one of America's leading Philosophers the great Stanley Rosen.Hans-Georg Gadamer is one of the fathers of the Continental Hermeneutic humanistic movement
According to W. J. Korab-Karpowicz of the Internet Encyclopedia:"His thinking has contributed to such diverse fields as phenomenology (Merleau-Ponty), existentialism (Sartre, Ortega y Gasset), hermeneutics (Gadamer, Ricoeur), political theory (Arendt, Marcuse), psychology (Boss, Binswanger, Rollo May), theology (Bultmann, Rahner, Tillich), and postmodernism (Derrida). His main concern was ontology or the study of being. In his fundamental treatise, Being and Time, he attempted to access being (Sein) by means of phenomenological analysis of human existence (Dasein) in respect to its temporal and historical character. In his later works Heidegger had stressed the nihilism of modern technological society, and attempted to win Western philosophical tradition back to the question of being. He placed an emphasis on language as the vehicle through which the question of being could be unfolded, and on the special role of poetry. His writings are notoriously difficult. Being and Time remains still his most influential work. "
.
Martin Heidegger's major contribution to Philosophy is his change of the discussion of Being in Philosophy. He shifted the discussion of Being from the transcendental focus of Hegel, Kant, and the Ancients on the Absolute. Heidegger looking at humanity as just objects in a material world that are aware of their own mortality and may become aware of their ' existential relationship to the Whole. Heidegger works operate from a human's eyes view to personalize idea of Being. He created a door where the individual could enter and engage Being from a personal point of view. He was both the antecedent of existentialism,
, and Post-structuralism and a major interpreter of Nietzsche. His ideas developed Husserl’s Phenomenology linking the Ancient's notions of Being with a spiritual model for our mechanistic age.

He didn't; he changed the way CONTINENTALISTS view analytic philosophy. And if anyone could ever get to any real substance behind Heidegger's convoluted language, they might have a decent answer.

For me, Martin Heidegger showed that you can be a world class thinker, and still be an idiot. He thought his was into supporting Nazi ideals on a philosophical plane. Maybe he killed philosophy as a serious academic discipline, maybe not. He is still being read and taught. Was gibt's?

*Yet another stooge question.
Again, there's no "we" and "our" at issue. The REAL question, one worthy of Heidegger's attention, goes to the core of the West. Without reference to a Creator, Heidegger questioned the emergence, from nothing, of the human project.
