How do the referees know if the kick is good or not?

I always see them standing under the goal post, but they never look up. Yet their able to signal if its good or if it missed.

Instant replay is not allowed on field goals.

Contrary to popular belief the officials under the goal post CAN see. No TV camera or press box guy has a better angle. They are in the right position to make the correct call. The refs rarely miss this call. I did say rarely.

Usually the two under the uprights look at each other to confirm the call. Wind and a hooking ball can play havoc with the call.

The referee is the white hat guy and is behind the kicker. How in the hell is the referee going to call the crossbar on a long kick? The two guys under call the uprights and the crossbar.

The two officials standing under the post decide if the ball went in between. The referee decides if went over the crossbar.

You don't see them look up because the camera is zoomed in on the ball, and by the time you see the refs, the kick went throw. Ever think of that?

well they should be looking up when the ball goes thru to tell if or not it was good but your right i never see them look up either so who really knows...i think when its a really close call they get instant replay to look at it but normally its well inside the polls they don't have too. But who knows why they don't look up when they should.

they're right under the goal post,one right under each upright post so they know if it goes through or not
