Just an example for you... I used to be a foodserver, for ten years actually, and I really loved the people contact. But there is always going to be the 'pain in the ***, rude, un-mannered, and just plain mean customer.
It may not have been the most appropriate thing in the world, but the deep freezer was sound proof and a block of vegetable beef soup thrown against the walls along with a few choice words used to do the trick for me.

You have plenty of sound advice in the Answers here, but why do you spend time with your tormentors?
Could it be that you have invested in your feelings of anger and outrage?
Keep away from people who make you feel like Conan the Barbarian and then you will be better equipped to start dealing with your anger management issues.

What THEY do is under THEIR control.
How YOU respond is under YOUR control.
Will you let them deprive you of that which is yours?
If you did, who would lose by it?
You rise above it because you believe in the validity of your own position. But bear in mind that doesn't mean you are right.
Everything looks different from another perspective. It may look different tomorrow.
You do not even try to handle these people. You handle yourself with dignity and balance.
Go in peace.

Don't rise to it and most of all, don't let them see they are getting to you. What kind of saddo gets off on pushing other people's buttons and then feels sheer joy from it? They have the problem, not you, try to forget it in the knowledge you wouldn't do anything as pathetic and hurtful as they.

Question: Why do you seem to set yourself up for this succession of experiences to occur so often in your life?
Answer: You play it smart and do NOT out yourself into these situations.
Suggestion: If you don't want to be attacked by alligators, then either don't swim where they do, or give up swimming.
Sash.

Best them mentally? I never resort to violence purely because things get out of hand quickly, plus it's too much effort and I'm too lazy.
