IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN IT, STOP HERE. THE ANSWERS MIGHT CONTAINE SPOILERS.

How many of you who have seen it approved of the ending? The movie ending was much different from the book ending but it is one that Stephen King loved and approved of. Why or why not?

I read the book many years ago and I did enjoy the movie. I love Stephen King and most of his movies have been prety good. My favorites include Firestarter, Christine, The Stand, The Langoliers and Skeleton Crew. Noteable ones include Night Shift, Cujo and Salem's Lot.

Even though it differed from the book, I still loved the ending. I just love the bleak endings that don't adhere to the sentimental Hollywood tripe that so many people expect.

I found it still very true to Stephen King's genre. I liked it.

Years ago, when I read the orig story, I absolutely LOVED it, but was aggravated at the dead-stop ending....always wanted a sequel, or some sort of ending...well the movie provided an ending for me. I didn't really like it. Overall, I liked the movie, the supermarket was exactly how I imagined it, but the "new and approved" ending just didn't do it for me. The irony was too stark.

I dont know how the book ended, but I did not approve of the movie ending. It was very odd to say the least.

I hated the ending but, then again, wasn't all that happy when his original novella ended with them just driving off into the mist.

I was glad that humans were pushing back the mist and monsters but upset over him shooting everyone in the vehicle.

My daughter said it was the worst movie she ever saw. But she says that once a month or so. I guess I was so floored by the ending that I wasn't able to decide if I liked it or not. I guess that's what they wanted: To floor people.
