Well, psychologically there are many explanations, however, many factors should be considered when approaching the topic of inter-gender respect. Psychologically, someone may lack respect for the opposite sex based on learned behaviors from their parents at an early age and/or continuously through out the developing years. Another argument for psychological prejudice towards the opposite sex is that someone may have a had a negative experience that produced long term damage and unforgotten resentment. There are many reasons, and I could write an essay for you on this topic, alone. The disrespect between both sexes is not only psychological, but cultural, and political.

Sometimes you just get dads who had raised their sons to believe that woman arnt as good as men or should just be left to do the housework, it's stupid ideas like that that can stop a women from getting the respect she deserves, sometimes you just see some people being really stupid and judging people just because of what sex they are.

I think it can greatly depend on the environment in which they were raised.
For example: If a man grew up seeing his dad treat his mother with respect, he will probably pick up the sense of respect for women that his dad had...

because all women start off being attracted to men like that. eventually they realise their mistakes and think that all men are disrespectful, when they should've realized that they should have been with the nice guys who don't appear so "tough".

It's the same with either sex. You don't respect others when you do not respect yourself. It's all very backwards and messed up and some people just don't get it.

Because some people just don't have social graces or acuity.

You could have asked this as "why don't some people respect the opposite sex?"

Most times it goes to how they are raised.

SO if they are raised to not believe in women.

It may also be cultural however this is a HUGE question and you'd be best to do some more research in this on your own.
