The egg. The question is, "which came first", it must be the egg because the chicken arises from the egg, but the egg may have been laid by a bird genetically somewhat different from a chicken, because DNA mutates in the gametes.
This is pure logic.
Some bird, a variant "prototype chicken" could have mated with another similar bird, and characteristics of a chicken could have been the result of some mutation inherent to conception.
Mutations are mostly disadvantageous but sometimes not, and they are put forth through the conception process into the next version of animal or even homosapien.
Definitely, the EGG.

As should be clear by now, if you are a strict Creationist, the chicken came first, on the fifth day.
If you believe in the evolutionary process, then the egg came first, as the first bird identifiable as a "chicken" would have come from an egg.

This question gets asked a lot
It's the chicken because God created all the animals and the Bible says nothing about him creating a bunch of eggs

According to the Bible, it would be the chicken. The Bible states that the animals were created. It does not mention the egg. Therefore, the animal (the chicken) came first.

The egg. Without the egg there would be no chicken. Maybe the egg is from another animal and chickens are just mutants or something.

I honestly do not know. But if I think about the corn we eat today, genetically altering process comes to mind. So, who knows either the chickens were made by God or they were crossbred by humans. Just like the quarter horses we know today.
