k, we got this wide screen monitor for our computer but when i plug it in everything is stretched and it looks terrible! When you play full screen movies on it, they take up the entire screen, wide screen movies play in a little strip on the screen. is there anyway to tell the computer that it's a wide screen monitor? perhaps a free program i can download?

Right click anywhere on the desktop, and select Properties from the menu that appears
Click on the Settings tab
There will be a slide bar on the center left of the windows
Sliding that bar will change the ratio of the screen
Without knowing the measurement of the screen, I can not predict which will work
So slide it one by one through the sizes doing an "apply" for each until you find the one you like.

There's two ways to use a dual monitor setup You can have the same thing showing on both screens - in this case the resolutions must be the same on each screen Or you can have different windows open in each one (the Windows taskbar just shows in one screen though) - when you do this, you can have totally different resolutions The setting is in Display Properties (right-click your desktop and press properties) on the Settings tab, it's called 'Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor'

You should change your screen resolution accordingly. Mouse right click -> properties -> Settings -> and change the screen resolution.

But probably you should setup your monitor (probably require installing the software driver for your monitor) in your operation system first:

Assuming you are using a Microsoft Windows type operation system, you should either:
- Install the monitor driver provided, or
- If driver is not provided, try changing it manually (mouse right click on your desktop -> properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Monitor), or
- Check on the monitor manufacturer's website for driver information

Once this is done, you should be able to change your screen resolution.

You don't even need to download anything. :)

Right-click on an empty part of your desktop, and select Properties from the menu that pops up. A window will open with some tabs in it; click on the right-most tab to bring up the resolution settings for your display. There should be a drop-down menu in that window with different sizes (i.e. 1024x768, 1440x900) in it. Select different ones until the picture on your screen is sharp and clear.

Install the driver/software of your monitor. This will fix the problem.
