It's hard to have only one x-ray. But if you must use this in a sentence, then it is: "an X-ray". I suspect you are refering to the procedure, and not the actual rays themselves.

It's an, because the first sound of 'x-ray' is a vowel sound. (the e, because x is pronounced 'ex' )
