does anyone know any statistics on this subject? where can i find information on this

check with the US Census Bureau and NAACP, they may have statistics on this.

the US Census Bureau said as of 2001, there were over 9000 African American elected officials (this includes every thing from school board officials, city councilmen, mayors, state government elected officials on up to the congress and senate).

They may have some more up to date info if you dig around their site a bit.

I ran the numbers once and it's running just a little shy of the % of African Americans.

For once in this country it would be nice if we could judge a person based upon their moral character and integrity, whether they keep their word or sell it to the highest bidder, but most of all that their skin color wouldn't matter at all.
