Health care is a burden on business and on workers as well as those who are self employed. Why not put it in the hands of a government agency and administer it through health care agency's?
Business would no longer need to factor that into wages. Therefore they could pay higher wages. If not they would be taxed on the profits from not having to pay for health care. The Alcohol, tobacco, and firearms could pay a health care tax because they are the prime reason for emergency care and cancer. Alcohol in excess can cause liver damage.
now if people have more income and business has more cash flow this can only help us become more competitive in the world market.
France,China,England.Finland.Denmark,Germany,and Canada all have socialized medicine.
This allows their business the freedom of not dealing with it. It also gives everyone health care. In this country 50 million people have no health care because they simply can't afford it. Many are young men under 28 years of age.

Those that are saying socialized health care does not work have no real experience with it. Being Americans you are driven by fears told to you by the Insurance companies who have no interest in your health, just the bottom line. And they are required by law to make money for their stock holders even if it means you die because of it. They don't actually have a choice. If you think government isn't involved your kidding yourself. It's involved in keeping things the way it is or worse and has been since Nixon first spoke to Kaiser about HMO's.
2) the reason your government fails is because more then half of you don't vote and don't take an active roll.
3) Public schools have their faults and problems but they do a fair job with what they have. And every child has the right to go to school and get an education,However they have no right to health care. Sick children can't learn.
4) Mental illness in this country is not even addressed.Schizophrenia is almost impossible to get care for.

The diseases that hit young men are testicular cancer, appendicitises, and schizophrenia. Yet most men from 18-28 have no health care.
A schizophrenic won't go to the doctor because he thinks he is OK. He thinks he is smarter then you. I went through this with a friends and getting him help was almost impossible. Fortunately a good friend was a RN and she didn't stop till she got results.
If this is how you want America to be then you should stop saying stupid things like we're number 1 because your not even number 2.
You are the government so grow some balls and take it back from the corporations. We don't have a democracy in the USA we have corporatism. Next Facisim. Using the government to look out for the needs of the poor and middle class is the job of the government not padding the pockets of the rich with corporate welfare.

You have an excellent idea, but here in the US health care is profit driven. Health care is rooted in private enterprise.

Insurance companies collect premiums. Out of the premiums they pay their executives obscene amounts of money, insurance companies have to pay their shareholders dividends out of their earnings (the premiums they collect).

They would agree with you that paying for health care is a burden. The more health care they administer, the less profits they make. So why should they have to insure sick people? Most of them are trying to avoid it.

We need to change the system.

Turning everything over to the government is strictly
socialism. This too is a problem. Everybody wants
something for nothing. This is what some third world countries have. How has the government handled their health care? Ours could end up being
the same, if we rely on government agencies to
administer same.

"Health care is a burden on business and on workers as well as those who are self employed. Why not put it in the hands of a government agency and administer it through health care agency's?"

Because Government agencies are, universally, the least efficient people in the world at doing ANYTHING.

Government run health care..... as efficient as the DMV, as compassionate as the IRS.

Look, for example, at Public Schools. They cost, on average, more than twice as much per student per year as parachial schools, but have far, far worse records at educating students.

Do you REALLY want the same brain-dead "jobsworths" that run the public schools, the DMV, the road repair agencies, etc, responsible for your health?

They have poor solutions to health care because they have been bought off by the insurance and pharmaceutical industry. It is not in the interest of their campaigns to socialize medicine. Socialized education, police, fire, and the postal service all work well even if they are not perfect and we do not expect them to profit.

Personally, I think if you are too cheap to pay for at least half of your health insurance I think you shouldn't be living in this country. It's just like the dude before me said. So many countries have tried that theory and it doesn't work.

Yeah... and that solution has been tried and failed in countries scattered across Europe....
