well being an educated fellow that doesnt buy into blindly ideological rhetoric, I know that your version isnt exactly what has happened. GW vetoed SCHIP the first time becausethe dems expanded it to cover adults and people that definitely should be able to provide their own insurance. He told them upfront that he would support a $5 billion and increase and possibly more in the program if the dems agreed to limit the coverage to the "poor" and to children. The democrats have chosen to play politics rather than do what is right for the poor which they have also done on heating oil subsidies for the poor by tacking it onto a bill filled with pork spending


Love the additional details in which you note that schip is to help low income families with heating oil. Too funny, SCHIP is for health insurance and LIHEAP is for fuel but again, the democrats tied LIHEAP to a bill riddled with pork rather than submitting it as a stand alone knowing that Bush would veto it- pure politics- if they really cared about the people it would have been passed as a stand alone bill rather than tacked on to a pork laden bill

Why do people continuously harp on the rich tax thing? Most of those are owners of businesses, and if it weren't for certain tax breaks to companies, some people wouldn't have jobs. They use the money saved to hire more labor. Now I am not ignorant enough to realize that this sometimes may not happen, but for the most part it does. When is the last time you saw a democrat vote himself a pay cut? All I have ever seen most of them do is raise taxes, and not for the rich either, they raised them for normal working people like us, who they claim to support. The last time I check the rich were still getting rich while Clinton was in office, so don't just point the finger at Bush.
