You should sleep on your left side whenever possible. There is a main atery that runs along your right side that can be pinched and limit blood flow to the baby. After your second term, try to avoid laying on yoru back, this can also cause lack of blood flow through main ateries. It's okay, but only for short periods of time.

it's only safe to sleep on your back? no no.. It is actually the opposite.. it is BETTER to sleep on your side (preferably left) when you are pregnant.. It promotes better blood flow for you and baby..
Sleeping on your back actually cuts off a major artery (vena cava) that is dangerous for you and baby, as it cuts off blood flow.
Soooo in saying that... you being a side sleeper is perfect!
Make sure you have plenty of pillows for support.. happy pregnancy!

I always slept on my side when I was pregnant with my son, and he turned out just fine. I think that your doctor will tell you to sleep on your right side so that your heart has an easier time pumping blood all around your body. But I would occasionally find myself on my left side in the morning and like I said my little guy was fine...

no! the only safe way to sleep is on your side. If you sleep on your back you put alot of pressure on your insides, and the baby, and stomach is even worse. All the baby books say side sleeping is best!

The best position of all is on your left side. Once you start to get big it's not safe to lie on your back for long periods of time due to the weight on your organs. Lying on your left side takes the pressure off of nerves and increases blood flow as well.

It is suggested that you sleep on your left side during pregnancy. It is the position that allows the most bloodflow to the baby and mother. Laying on your back puts pressure on arteries and is not suggested.
