Freewebs is great for making websites. You don't even need to know HTML. All you need to do is register yourself on the site and it's free to do so.
Here's the link to the website:http://members.freewebs.com/

There isn't any free services which hosts websites as yet. I do know there are many which have different costs, depending upon how much you want, such as pages and features.

Now, it is even impossible to have a "free" website if you created one yourself from scratch. You see, you would need to learn how to build with HTML, and other script languages, such as C++ which does allow you to add some really nice features. You also would need a computer used as a web server and all the "stuff" which goes with it. You would need to add graphics, and interactive content and all of this takes skills and resources.

My reccomendation would be to go with a web hosting service, such as Yahoo! or one of the many others out there. You could also go with Microsoft Frontpage, which allows for the creation of websites. There would still be the need for the web server, but Frontpage offers a lot of great methods of creation of all sorts of site options. The only limitation is the imagination of the individual who is using the program.

Sorry to not have better news. However, maybe there is something out I am not aware of as yet. Do a really deep search of the net and see what comes up. Don't limit yourself to just one search engine either as each may duplicate some offerings, but also can provide different results from each other. Try dogpile, which piles several of the major search engines into one huge engine and coughs up the results of them all. You would then need to sift through the results, but if it results in a free service, then your effort would be well worthwhile.

As the other poster asked, if you do find one, tell the rest of us! Have a great evening and a very nice holiday season.

I checked out Freeweb and if you don't mind banner ads, a Freeweb toolbar at the top of the webpage, and links which lead viewers back to the Freeweb home page. You can get rid of some of these items if you upgrade to a Premium account, and the price is not bad at all, one to two dollars a month. The free version is limited in size and scope, with a total of 40mb of space and up to 100 files only. Freewebs also has some reasonable restrictions on content, such as nudity, sexually explicit content, rasiscm, hate mongering, and anything they deem innapropriate and/or objectionable, and they can and will delete any account without warning and at their sole descretion.

A User also can't store any files of certain types, such as mp3, .exe, and other types which are deemed likely to be copywritted, or otherwise owned, unless the member is the sole owner of said material and can prove it. All files of these types will be deleted without notice, unless approved by Freewebs.

All in all, I think this a great way to get started with a website. I am thrilled to come across this question and to find the response to the individual who offered out the link to Freewebs. I think the ten points should go to that person, if my opinion counts. lol

You might want to learn HTML (hyper-text mark up language), CSS (cascading style sheets), and a few other languages. If you dont want to learn these you can go to a website such as freewebs.com or you can even use microsoft frontpage. I would suggest that you learn HTML. It will make it so much easier.
