every drug is different for every person... the 3 options i can think of for you- 1. let the government and their all-knowing surgeon general tell you what is and isn't smart for your own body, 2. listen to countless people debate it and get nowhere, or 3. try it and see for yourself.
tobacco is a stimulant which will actually be causing your stress to increase, but many feel more relaxed after smoking just as many feel warmer after drinking alcohol which actually lowers bodily temperature.
i would suggest meditation as a form of stress relief though. it's cheaper and won't cause bad breath. of course, if you like the taste and find it relaxing, well... "do as thou wilt shall be the whole of the law."
happy experimenting :)

Smoking tobacco will deliver nicotine and remove the anxiety. It is very difficult to quit nicotine, some people think that kicking a nicotine addiction is even harder than kicking heroin.

Ten percent of smokers die a nasty, painful death from lung cancer. Another ten percent will develop mouth, nose and throat cancer. Almost every other kind of cancer including stomach, colon. breast, pancreatic, is more common in smokers. Close to half of smokers will develop chronic obstructive lung disease, making it hard to breathe, limiting activity and possibly requiring oxygen supplementation. About forty percent of smoker will develop heart disease and/or stroke, both of which are devastating to quality of life.
