And I was dressed professionally like I worked in the corporate world but I was carrying a toolbox, would you stop me and ask you to fix something in your house?

OK, Lets see, first of, most repair men drive trucks, they do not walk through neighborhoods.
Now people who intend to rob some place, do walk through neighborhoods, they case the places, before they rob them.
they look for
Houses with bushes around the foundation.
Windows that are clear of decoration, no bottles, bric a brac, on the inside ledge.
Homes with no dogs, small dogs in particular.
Front doors with a lot of glass.
In other words easy entry.
But my neighbors and I formed a neighborhood watch. And we attended talks by our local police, on what to look for.
Now most people who rob, do not carry toolboxes, or dress professionally, but I figure, that may be to throw suspicion off.
So I take no chances, I have the local police precinct on speed dial, and the response time is under four minutes, one minute a block.
The squad car pulls up and police get out, they surround you and ask for ID. Your toolbox contains a glass cutter, and one of the new electric jimmie's.
Wrong neighborhood.

Only if you wear the red nose. :-)

Edit:
Geez, after looking at some of these answers, I'm REALLY glad I live where I do. It seems this question is very much based on how safe you feel in your own community.
My town has one police officer on duty at all times from 7am until 11 pm, and the night shift is covered by the day shift officers, who take turns sleeping next to a pager.
Of course we only had 27 crimes all last month. 26 speeding tickets and one Drunk In Public. :-) And you have to really be acting like an idiot to get written up for that. Usually they'll just give you a ride home.
(the DIP wasn't me, by the way) lol

No way. After reading "Strawberry Spring" by Stephen King, I'd be leery of any handsome, well dressed young man carrying a hammer.
