In terms of economic and safety consideratons absolutely not. South Africa has become a leader in rape and murder in the world since the end of apartheid. In addition the center of Johannesburg look like the remnants of a post-apocalyptic city. The number of people in both absolute and % of the population living in abject poverty has risen also. Only the racial equality cheerleaders say South Africa is better off without seeing if the blacks could handle self-rule. These are the same people who cheered on Robert Mugabe in 1979, though after he's completely destroyed Zimbabwe's economy they aren't saying much anymore. The election of Zuma in the near future as the leader of the ANC and probably the president of South Africa is yet another sign that South Africa is deep trouble.

Ummm....YES!

I cannot believe your question. You prefer APARTHEID Africa?

When there is a severe change in government policy, there will be growing pains. Funny, you ask this question, but no one asked if Iraq is better off after this country invaded it...

In terms of racial context yes yes yes. Just because times are changing doesn't mean that would have been better off without it.

For whites certainly not.

For everyone else - and the colossal black majority, certainly yes, though not by much; yet NOTHING could be achieved while whites still ruled and treated the blacks as seperate and lower than them.
