split it into 1771 and 10, 10 into 2 and 5. try 1771/3, doesn't work. obviously don't try 5. try 1771/7, get 253, so split 1771 into 7 and 253. you know 2,3,5 don't work, so try 253/7, no, try 253/11, get 23, so 253 splits into 11 and 23, and you're done.

First thing I'd do is divide by 10. (gives you the prime factors 2 and 5). Now... 1771: harder to factor. But - because 3 and 7 are the only prime numbers that have multiples that end with one (3 x 7 = 21), they're worth trying. 1771/7 = 253, so 7 is a factor. 1771/3 gives a fraction, so what you wanted was 7, not 3. 253 is divisible by umm.... a little trial and error says 11. Another prime. And.. it turns out that 23 is also a prime number, so you can't factor it any further.
So... 17710 = 5 x 2 x 7 x 11 x 23.
That didn't take any math magic... just trying some possibilities, and finding what worked. Odds are you won't see an identical question on a test - but hopefully the method makes enough sense that you could do it with any number.

start at the bottom 2 x 8855, then 8855 comes out to 5 x 1771, 1771is 7 x 253, then 253 is 11 x 23. then 2 x 5x 7 x 11 x 23 equals 17710 good luck

17710 / 70 = 253
(factor 70 = 7 x 5 x 2)
253 / 23 = 11
so...
11 x 23 x 7 x 5 x 2 = 17710
