The power supply went out of my old pc so i bought a new power supply and now the thing wont turn on at all except for the fans spinning for like 2 milliseconds when you first plug it in. I talked to the technician and he said it is probably the mother board. Can i just use any motherboard on my computer and hopes it works or do i have to buy a certain one and how much would the price of one run?

You probably got the power switch connector on the front panel switch knocked off while you were installing the new pwr suppy. Look in the lower right corner of the mobo and make sure the pwr switch connector is plugged into the pins.

Did it have a square 4 pin plug (mobo 12v power) if so look on the mobo and make sure it is plugged in.

There are several ways to know that... But first, you have to know what you're using... Like, what is your processor? How many pins does it have? What's your RAM type? What PC type is it?

If you're planning to buy the same board, then its ok to swap the cards and other peripherals attached to your old board to the new one... but, if you're planning to buy a different board, make sure everything else is compatible...

If the fan runs for a few seconds, there must be a loose connection somewhere... or, there could be some loose cards (video, audio, ram, Lan, modem, etc.) attached to your board... even your processor could be loose... try tightening things up by pushing the cards down a bit, and make sure the data cables to your HDD are staright and tight...

Hope this helps...

Check the back of the power supply. Most newer power supplies have a voltage switch on the back. Make sure it's set to 115V. I don't really remember what voltage settings there are but I know there is one that is 100 something and another that is 200 something. Make sure it's 115V since I assume you live in the US since the max voltage here is 120V.

Or it might be your power supply isn't compatible with your PC for your motherboard is damaged.

Push and hold the power supply button on the front of your case for 7 seconds, then let go, push it again, and it should start
