My boyfriend is giving me mixed signals here lately, we've been together over 2 years, what's going on here?

My boyfriend and I met during our 8th grade year, by the end of that year, we were boyfriend/girlfriend. We dated all the way up until the beginning of our Sophmore year, when I finally broke it off because I didn't want sure a serious relationship at such a young age. We still talked every now and then, but We went on to date other people. One night during the end of our Junior year, he randomly calls and comes to my house; we both had just gotten out of nasty realtionships, and we talked for hours on my front porch, shortly after we became BF/GF,again. We just currently finished our 1st semester of college,together and about a month ago I broke up with him because he was acting different, we just got back together a couple days ago, because he seemed like he was still really into me. He tells me he loves me, but his actions tell me otherwise, like the way he kisses me and looks at me or hugs me, it not the same like it used to be, but he says he still feels the same. What going on?

Is it possible that I am pushing him away without knowing it?

Sounds like you are just his "go-to" port in a storm... a default setting.
He is comfortable with you, and you have a lot of history together, so he keeps bouncing back to you even though you two have outgrown each other.
Tell him he can hang around and be friends, but you are going to date around.
