Boy Scouting is a great program for boys. It allows them to achieve skills not taught in the classroom, not the least of which is how to work with others and how to be a leader.

That's a load of crap. I was in Cub Scouts through Explorers which follows Boy Scouts. Experienced the outdoors and comradely.

Everyone I know has had good experiences with it. They don't just go into the woods. Where I live they do a lot of community service.

There are good and bad troops, I'm sure
but for the most part, one learns survival skills,
and ethics in the scouts.

I use to be one as a kid. For every story you hear about some old guy who is a pervert, there are hundreds of untold stories about guys doing some great things.
