1. Killing the God-equivalent character is in the third volume; can't be in the movie.

2. "They" would watch "that" because (and I've read the books because) the author makes it interesting. Moreover, Pullman thinks he's taking our beliefs and deducing the God who must be behind them, and he finds that creature a sorry sort of being indeed.

But since he's wrong in his deductions--and probably in his premises--one can simultaneously declare that Pullman's character ought to be killed, and that God ought NOT to be killed (even if it were possible).

As I've said to the sterner sort of Calvinists elsewhere, if I believed that God was capable of condemning a person to Hell for mere ignorance, not evil deeds, I couldn't worship Him either. I'm convinced that this is where so-called Satanists come from--they aren't rejecting God, they're rejecting somebody else's unacceptable *version* of Him.

3. I'd like to remind you of the Christian commandment to love your enemies and do good to those who hate you. And of "vengeance is mine, says the Lord." If your "buried alive" comment is even 1% serious . . . well, you may be Christian, but you're not doing it right!

4. I'll wait to see "The Golden Compass" until it's definite whether they'll finish the story or not.

Yes!!!!!!!!! Also, before you judge the movie read the book first! I think the Golden Compass has more meaning than "Let's kill God." It's more about separation between government and religion and people not being all good or all evil.

The author is a self-described atheist and blames all the worlds troubles on not just Christians but every organized religion.
Guess he's just too much of a wimp to single out Islam, they might have something to say.
