Hey,

Today I was working on my main computer when it just randomly crashed.

I held the power button to turn it off, then booted it up again.
It didnt start up properly. The fans are spinning, the lights on the tower are showing, but nothing on the monitor. My mouse aint lighting up either.

The ram in my computer has lights that flash up and down in a row, sorta like christmas lights lol. The faster they flash the more memory usage and vice versa. When I now boot up the computer, the lights only show on the same diode.

I have asked many people, searched many places and still no solution.

help = appreciated.
Thanks.

Mark

First off I would remove all the memory modules from your PC (be sure that you first ground yourself to your computer with both hands to discharge any static electricity) then power on your PC.

What you are listening for is a beep (or series of beeps) It SHOULD beep wiht no memory in your PC. If it doesn't chances are your motherboard is fried.

Actually FIRST try starting your PC in safe mode. Power on your PC and tap the F5 key repeatedly and see if you are able to start your PC in safe mode. If so, try rebooting it normally. THEN try removing the memory modules.

Good luck man

Can you get into the BIOS at all? I presume if nothing is being displayed on the monitor then the answer must be no.

Can you hear whether your hard drive is spinning?

You say all the lights come on when you power up so it could be that your BIOS may have become corrupted as you are not passing basic hardware checks.

I think you will need to take it to a repair place to get some expert advice.

The answer lies in your question. What were you doing (on the computer) when it randomly crashed? That's where you'll find your answer. If you were just surfing the net, then you most likely allowed a virus to affect your computer, which will now need to be cleaned but first you'll have to get a good virus scan/blocker and go back to the exact website you were on and see what it detects. Then you'll get the name of the virus and you can download a removal tool specific for the virus you may have. If you were using a new application, then it may have caused this mis-hap, as well. So just go back to the begining to find the answer you seek ;) Update if you get any new info, okay? okay :)

Well there is no way to be completely sure, but I would think that it is some type of hardware problem, like power supply or motherboard.....hard to tell though......
I suppose it could even be memory.....
