I loved watching Sumo during my 6 moths in Sapporo. I've been having trouble finding Sumo DVD's that can play in region 1 DVD players.

Anyone know where I can get good quality Sumo on DVD?

If you are back in Canada I suggest you just get a Region Free DVD player, can be found all over the net.

If you have Rogers cable you can get Japan TV and receive all the Grand Sumo basho live. Aside from Sumo though, Japan TV is a bit of a snore-it's from the NHK. I guess you could close your eyes and imagine that paying your Rogers bill is just like having the NHK collector come to your door.

I have to agree with TokyoE. Region free DVD players are easy to find, and not that much more than a standard one. If you have a computer with a DVD drive, they may play that way. My computer can play DVD's from Japan that my DVD player can't...
