3000 miles (about 5000 km) or 3 months, whichever comes first. If you aren't driving it a lot, you still should not go all the way to June without changing it, the oil can get moisture in it, it does not last forever.

Don't take chances with a classic car just to save a few dollars (or pounds or euros or whatever)

Change the oil every 3 months or 3,000 miles, whichever comes first. You don't look for any sign, you just do it routinely.

Same for petrol or diesel - the oil will turn dark brown then black as it degrades.

ITS VERY MUCH THE SAME FOR A PETROL ENGINE,JUST OPEN THE FILLER CAP AND LOOK AND SEE IF IT'S CLEAR,OR IF IT SMELLS FOUL.
