One of the mineral eye shadow duos would be great for your coloring. This is by MAC - do you have them close by at a dept store, or mac store?
I think Silversmith, Family Silver and Engaging are definitely worth a try. I have Earthly riches, and it is fantastic. Not too shimmery - just perfect.

Use a nice base of a light brown. Then highlight the inner area of the eyelide to the edge with a medium brown. Line the edge by the lashes with a light line of a blue or turquoise eye shadow. Just do NOT use a total eye of a color like turquoise.
Makeup should highlight to accentuate your eyes, not look like it was painted.

if you would like to match the tourquoise gown, you can pull off a nice tourquoise eye shadow, since your dark brown eyes will balance it off and wont make the tourquoise colour to strong.
While if you dont want to be to matchy with everything you could wear a dark brown eye shadow or dark/medium grey eye shadow.
the dark brown will give depth and match the tourquoise, while the grey will match the tourqouise and give a smoother look.
having a medium skin tone is actually very good, since many colours go well with it. just try different colours out & youll find the right one soon.

I have dark brown eyes too. To me, With dark brown eyes, you can go two ways. You can do the earth tones (light/dark brown, light green, beige). Or, you can do the "out there" colors (turquoise, purple, bright green, orange, hot pink).
With me, I do the earth tones if I'm going to be in a more suttle place. The earth tones make you look like you have a natural glow. Since your eyes are already brown, earthy colors enhance that.
The bright colors make your eyes stand out. If you feel like sprucing up enough, you should do that. Bright colors like that tend to bring out the warmth in your eyes.

I suggest that you start with a turquoise base but at at the center of your lid, start to mix in a little cream color until all cream at top of lid. If you want add a little glitter or shimmer, how much depending on how formal the occasion. You would not want to look like a disco ball at a formal.

A light off white/ beige of some sort. Of course a pale shade of blue/green woud be pretty but too heavy would look real outdated

Urban Decay in Shattered,
or actually anything Urban Decay. (At Ulta or Sephora) They have every color, in eyeliner, liquid eyeliner, and eyeshadow. Also, it IS kindof expensive but you will LOVE it! Urban Decay is so much better than MAC, because MAC is not shimmery.

i worked for mac for 5 yrs and i suggest a light blue any light blue you have in ur makeup collection.People often think they have to match the exact blue but matchy-matchy takes from ur natural beauty.then top it of with jet black liner & black mascara!no matter what skin color.I recommend "Milani" that brand has mac/like colors but cheaper:)
