I set up an appointment for a personal interview on Thursday for Saturday. On Friday I heard about winter storm possiblities on Saturday and called the lady to reschedule.

My family says this was a bad decision and the lady probably thinks poorly of me for rescheduling, as it shows wavering and uncertainty. My sister says I should give up my Harvard hopes.

Additional info: I am ranked 2 out of my class, I am a badminton champion, award-winning poet, professional artist (some people have bought my paintings), AP Scholar, Maryland Distinguished Scholar, participant in the Irvine Nature Center Summer Fellowship, and my SAT score is 2200.

Oh and it didn't actually snow. It rained. So the weather forecast was incorrect.

And I should tell you the alumnus sounded young on the phone and did not SOUND annoyed. It was rescheduled to the following Wednesday.

No, this won't hurt you. Did you tell her that you were rescheduling because you didn't want to miss the interview due to the forecasted storm? I would make it clear that the only reason you rescheduled was because you were so eager for the interview that you were afraid that the storm would jeopardize your chances. It was probably a little early to reschedule, but since your interview was scheduled for a weekend, your making sure that things were set before the weekend seems responsible to me, not the opposite. If you didn't say any of this, you can begin by saying that at the interview itself, and she should be left thinking that you were not only responsible, but extremely eager to go to Harvard.

I'm sure it's not unusual, especially considering conditions. Just conduct yourself professionally and make sure it was clear that you were concerned about the weather. If your scores and interview are good enough to get you in, it won't matter that you rescheduled. Don't let your family or friends psyche you out -- just go in confident as you would have to begin with.

I don't know what to tell you. Showing up in an interview is very important to them. Maybe it won't matter.
I had an interview with Yale and it went great. I am so happy! But anyway I hope it goes well.
Best of luck!
