it's ok if you replace the cv boot covers also and grease them well

You can do that. Before you make that decision, check into the cost of replacing the axles and just replacing the CV joints. It may be close to the same price when you factor in labor. The parts will cost more but there should be less cost in labor.

Ford man hit the nail on the head. One re-manufactured half shaft wit cost $60.00 at any auto parts store or an original equipment unit on eBay for $49.00. You get two CV joints, boots and an axle all assembled. Its faster to install and less expensive.

Yeap! Fordman is right. Besides, doing just the CV joint and boots is ALOT messier.

if you mean rebuilding them and replacing the boots yes you can do that.
