why to they feel the need to work so much? even if they are in not that much need of money

I have no idea why.I am always backing down from extra work days or longer hours. I am always first or second to sign up for early outs.
I enjoy time with my family so much that I feel that work is stealing away my family life.I know several people who are work-alochics, mostly single and lonely women.I don't know what will happen to them if they ever lose their jobs.
maybe I am spoiled since I have a husband who trys to carry most of the load.

Because it is their identity. Their value is directly realated to their work.

I don't know if it's an addiction. But they do what they have to do. I wish I was more like that.
