It looks like the camera was sitting on a tripod on the moon, but how could it be if no one had left the lunar module yet?

Hi. It was attached to one of the LEM legs. Found some cool videos at this site. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Lunar_Module

The camera was attached to the LM.

On the side of the Lm near the ladder was a section called the Modular Equipment Stowage Area (MESA). This was basically a hinged compartment that opened downwards and contained various useful tools and equipment for use on the Moon. When Armstrong was just outisde the door of the LM, before he started down the ladder, he pulled a handle and the MESA opened. Inside the MESA, the camera was mounted on a sprung arm, which popped out automatically as the MESA opened to stick up with the camera aimed at the ladder. Inside the LM Aldrin flicked a switch to activate the camera, and the image of the ladder was broadcast live to the world as Armstrong descended to take the first steps on the Moon.

The NASA folks wanted to see how the LM worked on the Moon, and bolted a camera to it so they could see the astronauts coming out the hatch and make sure everything was OK.

Apollo 11 was a major event. Pictures would be nice.

Do you moon hoax types have anything new to add, or are you now reduced to recycling the same old crap?

Everyone forgets that NASA sent a cameraman and crew to the Moon first. He never gets the credit he deserves.

Or, it was on the side of the Lunar Module like the first answer said.

It was in a studio in America, that why.
Honestly, youd think that if they were going to pull a stunt like that, theyd have thought of EVERYTHING.
Fools, the lot of em.
