Nicholesta: I love you but I think your facts are somewhat exagerated or at best skewed. The media is not as much of a concentration of power as one would (nicholesta) assert. Rather it is the fact that it is the one dominant source of information in our lives. Seldom do we read in depth articles or even books about people or issues. I remember when I was a little boy. our neighbors (men) would go to the library to read about vietnam. They didn't know anything about the country or why we were there. They formed opinions based on their research. They also had discussions and listened to each other. Cronkite and Huntly and Brinkly didn't tell them what to think. You can't discuss politics today. People will HATE you, if you are a neocon or a liberal. "You think" has been replaced by "you are". The only reason the media has so much power is because we have given it to them. We fail to be interested in fact over spin. We classify ourselves as having a certain view and then just follow what the media tells us to think. You are a conservative-can't vote for HIllary. You are a liberal-have to be for the death penalty. We have assigned our political life to the media. We let Fox News or Brian Williams define our political views. Many times the media did not get their way because people voted the way they wanted. Reagan was a good example. Phil Donohue had rank and file blue collar union members on his show, who were die hard Reagan fans. He berated and made fun of them. He said "How can you be so stupid as to vote for this guy". The guest in the audience replied' You and the media are just mad that we didn't vote the way you told us to."

So I take it you're a liberal? Ha ha ha ha!!!
It just cracks me up how every group tries to blame everything on the media.
Liberals, conservatives and everybody else is constantly whining and complaining that the media is "biased" and "against them" which just means they are mad because the media is not just blindly repeated their party's propoganda!
The media's job is not to make everybody happy, the media's job is to tell the truth as best as it can, which isn't always an easy job, believe it or not!
Political parties need to stop whining about the media and start taking personal responsibility for their actions and the results of their policies!

I certainly don't trust them. The last time I checked, all of the mainstream Media in the US and much of the world was owned by 6 individuals (people or corporations). The same individuals also own numerous corporations and provide more funding to political campaigns then all of the citizens and small business of our country combined. Its hard to think they are totally unbiased. and have no agenda. Let me correct that. Its downright naive to think so.

I don't hate them. I just have no use for them. The news shows are all biased. With the exception of a small handful of police dramas, network programming sucks as far as I'm concerned, cable TV isn't much better. Newspapers are obsolete, and just as biased as TV news in most cases.

Hate requires too much effort on my part.
Face reality, the world is full of BS'ing con artists.
I simply choose to ignore them.

can't stand the mainstream media..they pretend to be unbias, yet it's patently obvious where their political hopes lie..alas, they are EXTREMELY unsuccessful at bringing their agendas to fruition because republicans continue to win elections...
