It keeps saying "no cd or dvd burner has been detected." It has worked before, not sure what happened. Please help!

TRy to boot fron cdrom, if you can't then update firmware for your optical drive, then try again boot from cdrom. If still not able to boot, replace the optical drive. If able to boot you must delete the upper and lower filters in the registry for the optical drive., If you still could not, try to do system restore to the date you know your drive was still able to read, if no change, then reinstall windows.

Look in"My Computer." Do you see an icon for the external drive? If you don't, unplug the power cord to the external drive. Wait a second then plug the power cord back in to the external drive. Your computer should detect new hardware (i.e. external CD/DVD drive). Now, try to play your CD or DVD.

Try updating the drivers for USB ports
