Uhm, I do hope you mean 1.87 left!!! well, you'll have a hard life, with it. I persoanaly suggest a whole new laptop, cheaper then a harddrive. well..
Get a external hard drive, then you'll be good.

You hardly have enough space. I wouldn't not recommend install windows XP though. Having hardly any disk space left makes it run slow. In addition, if your laptop only has a 1.87 gb hard drive, I'm guessing its really old and the processor is likely slow. Its best to stick with Windows 98 in your situation.

Hmmmm.... after thinking a sec (LOL) I believe you have a 1.8ghz (gigahertz) processor on your laptop and are confusing that with the 'gigabytes' of the hard drive. Assuming this, if your laptop is indeed a 1.8, then your hard drive would (probally) be at 'least' 60gigs or more. Click On START>Programs>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM TOOLS>SYSTEM INFORMATION and it will tell you the size of everything inside your computer. If you do have a larger hard drive but only have that little amount of space left, then it wouldn't matter, as formatting the hd to put XP on it would wipe it clean again. :)

if it run 98 ok, stick with it. upgrades will cost big bucks, get a cheap or a rebuilt from a local tech with xp. cost might be close. you can always transfer files via a flash drive.

1.84 GB wont fit XP! XP needs at least 5 GB... Try reformating your HD first then you would have enough space for XP.
