When I pick out baby names, yes, I do take consideration of the meaning. For example, I really love the name Kennedy, but then one day I found out it meant 'deformed head' in Gaelic. Charming isn't it? lol. Althought it has also made me like names even more. For example, one of my favorite names of all time is Kaia (kye-a), and then I found out it meant 'pure' in Greek (I love Greek history). I don't have kids, so... Hope this helps!

My real name is Meliydya { Mi* Ly*ed*Ya*} Ann and I go by Melinda which means beautiful strong one, because when I was born I baaed like a lamb instead of cried, so it just fit. My twin sis's name is ScRiena Mai { Cer*Rina My} becuase it just flowed. My lil' sis's name is Jadlyina {Jad*Lean*a} and doesn't have a middle name. And she goes by Jade right know. Our names were given to us for the way we were born and how we were, like did we cry or were we quiet. Or , like me, our looks. Also, our mom wanted us to have names we'd be pround of in our futhur, but have short normal nicknames to go by in school. And unless anyone from my school is reading this, the only people reading answers to this question are the only ones who know our real names. So SHHH. I hope our names helped to show that weird names can mean something. And I didn't name kids because I'm only 12 and don't have any.
Good Luck

I chose names that had a nice flow to them & I took them from actors I liked.
Shawn Michael= Shawn is Hebrew meaning God is gracious
Scott Brian= Scott is old English meaning from Scotland
Brian Keith= Brian is Celtic meaning strong one
I just heard boy's name I liked today. It's Kaden Scott. Sounds Irish & I really like it.

My first consideration was not to have a name that was common in our families. We are both from large extended families so that was harder than it sounds at first.
Then we wanted older style names, because we were both not interested in giving them names that would date, or be impossible to spell e.g. modern compound names.
Then, of course, because we liked the sound of them.
We have four children - Racheal, Nicole, David and Caroline, and the meanings weren't important to our choice.

Well, everyone has a different taste in names, for example, if your favorite singer is Carrie Underwood, if you have a girl, if you feel its right name it Carrie, or, if you have a girl or boy and when you look at it you feel something and what it means to you, just like a name, if you feel its a girlie girl, name it Brittany, or a Sport girl, name it Taylor, if you liked this advice email my at FairyQueen8903@yahoo.com

First off, I tried to give them semi-normal names that kids couldn't really tease them about
Daughter named after a movie character Karen
1st son named Steven
2nd son named William
both are good names as they grow into adults & they like them too

I didn't name my children based on what their names meant, but what they meant to me and my husband (in one instance, anyway). Our oldest is named Coby (just because I loved the name, I had it picked out before I was pregnant). Our second is named Anderson. My middle name is Anne, and my husband grew up on a street called Anderson Place, and has fond memories. So, it means something to him, and worked my middle name in a little bit (because we didn't have any girls.
Coby = supplanter
Anderson = son of Andrew

I chose names I liked first and then looked at the meanings. I loved Claudia, but it means 'lame'. . This turned me off a bit.
We chose 'strong' meaning middle names for the for the first names we liked, and made a list... We have a list and now we are waiting to meet our baby before we decide. .

earlier i knew what i grew to become into having i seen boy names: I loved: Landon Caden Noah Tucker Gaige & for woman names i loved: Ryleigh Kailey Gracie Jacey & Kylie My daughter grew to become into in simple terms approximately named Kylie ~ yet my husband insisted it is spelt "Kylee" (the Lee after his uncle lee that kicked the bucket in 06) yet i didnt like the Kylee spelling it jogged my memory too many of the call Kyle. So I had already enjoyed the call Kailey, & i replaced the spelling to Kaylee...& got here up with the middle call Addison & we now have our Kaylee Addison whom would be turning a million 12 months outdated on April 24!

Sound first, but I did check the meanings to be sure it wasn't anything too horrible. Spelling was not really an issue as I believe firmly in traditional spellings. But we tested out the initials to make sure they didn't spell anything odd.
