If as one poster stated the LL pays the utilities then you can expect your rent to include these silently, I think you can forget a HOUSE for that kind of money but the best place to find out is the local newspaper ads.

melissa B,
With this little bit of money I doubt you'll find anything but an add on someone has on the back-side of their house! Or maybe a converted garage, made into a small single. Do like the other guy said, and see if you can find something in the newspaper. There's where most people look. Or maybe, you can drive around in the area your wanting to live and see if they have a back house for rent. Dont forget, you still will need to pay for Lights, (maybe) Gas, Phone, Cable,Water, Trash, and once all of these bills are added up you will be well over your $300.00 dollar budget!! Houses, may have cheap rents, but its the bills that get you!! Good Luck finding something within your budget, hun!! Hope you can find something that maybe the owner will pay all of the bills on except like the Electric and phone! Sometimes you can get lucky with this! Just make sure to ask alot of questions to the owners about all of the utilities....Smile!! And Have Fun!!!

Melissa dear. I just took a look at rental prices in the LaGrange area, and you're looking in vain. There is NOTHING there for anywhere near that rent value. If that's your top end budget, I advise looking into sharing a facility with another person or two.
It appears that the least expensive properties in the La Grange area are around $500 per month, and going upwards from that point.

I live in New York and couldn't find a garage for that amount, lucky you. Have you considered applying for Section 8 housing? You dont have to live in a project, just somewhere that accepts section 8 vouchers. You might try looking in hte phonebook in the county where you live, looking for blank county Rural Development. Good luck.

Melissa, Look for a studio apartment. Finding a house (that isn't missing a roof or isn't blessed with holes in the floor and mice to boot) in that price range seems impossible.
Also, look for a roommate. That may help you out a bit in the pocketbook.
