I have an HP Pavilion dv1000 can i play HD movies on it?

Not sure about that particular box, but in general, yes you can as long as you have the right hardware/software combination.

I assume you mean an HD-DVD? If you have a laptop with an HD-DVD drive, then yes, it can play the movie for you. However, if the laptop only has a CD or DVD drive, then you cannot play HD-DVDs.

Also, note that there are two standards, there is HD-DVD and BluRay. You need a HD-DVD Drive to play HD-DVD discs and a BluRay Drive to play BlueRay discs. As far as I know there aren't any current drives on the market that can play both.

You can if it has an HDdvd Player installed, such as certain Toshiba laptops, among others. Look on the front of the players tray-door and see if it says HD anywhere or just DVD or CD and that should tell you. If your computer is new and cost big bucks, you may have an hd-dvd player. Sony computers are Blu-ray though. :)

i also have Dell XPS my is XPS L401X , yes it can play HD movies untill you have HD format movies
