okay I want to upgrade from 98 to xp. xp says it needs 1,717 mb to upgrade. my hard drice is 1.87GB. will this work?

its a winbook xl, started with 95 was upgraded to 98

no, because you need at least 2GB additional free space on the hard drive to work properly. the hard drive should be at least 20GB.

this must be an age old laptop. can you tell us the brand and type?

after reading this review of the year 2000 the answer is definitely - NO. it's no more worth to spend only 1$ on it. the CPU would be too slow and the Ram is too little to run Windows XP (not even Windows 2000 would work properly).

It will be an exercise in futility for an XP upgrade on such an outdated laptop. Just stick to Win 98 or try Linux.
