Rogers called me to switch old modem for new " Scientific Atlanta" modem. It is not showing up on my hardware just says 'unknown device' with a big yellow question mark. After contacting rogers internet real tech, his answer was if I'm using the desktop now, then it must be installed properly.
HOWEVER, my computer has been running XXX slow since.
Can someone please help me figure this out?

when your system ask if it is connected answer yes. Then from the list choose the 'fast ethernet' if the system is not able to recognise your modem then it will direct u to the microsoft page. If it doesn't work then get model of your modem is google it to find the driver then just instal it

Difficult to tell where your problem is coming from.
The tech is correct in a way, if the modem is not working, then you wont be connected.

You should post or email your modem model number, at least someone will be able to tell what the connection should be and then work from there.
Also the version of Windows you are running, CPU type and how much memory would also help to figure out this one.
