If you believed their 'Joseph Goebbels', Clarence Mitchell, they are the most devoted parents in the world.
However having dumped their 3 children off in the creche all day so that they could enjoy their holidays with the adults, we read an article in todays Times which states:
"They were first to the table at the restaurant at 8.35 and spent some minutes talking to a couple from Hertfordshire – two more tennis players – at the next table, who were eating with their young children. As they chatted, Gerry thought how lucky he was, his children asleep nearby, he and Kate free to come and enjoy some adult time at the restaurant and not have to sit with their children, as this couple were."
Hang on Gerry ......... youve had 'adult time' all bloody day ........ now youre relieved that you also get to have it all evening as well?
Good to note that the other 2 people from Hertfordshire actually brought their children to the restaurant and looked after them real parents would.

Gerry also claimed the twins were deep sleepers (to counter accusations of having given the twins drugs to help them sleep and to explain why they never woke amongst the confusion of that night) ...... yet in this article it states:
"Earlier that week the McCanns had used a key to go in through the front door next to the children’s bedroom but, worrying the noise might wake the children, they began using the patio doors, leaving them unlocked."
Hang on Gerry ......... they are deep sleepers why are you worried about a key turning in a lock waking them up? Make up your mind Gerry, are they light sleepers or deep sleepers? Ive never heard of a deep sleeper being awoken by a key turning in a lock.
Thats the problem with lies, you need to cover one up with another ......

they spend so much time justifying what they did.
what they did do was take three little children on holiday....what for?......to leave them all day and all night. they would have been better.....and safer....at home with their grandparents.
MICHEAL W....i couldnt print what i think W stands for.....do NOT include all parents in your opinions on what the McCanns did. I and hundreds of other loving parents never once left my kids on holiday or even at home. As far as i was concerned holidays were for the kids and if we had to stay in at night then we did.
How do we not know, now, on hindsight that this wasn't going on when they were at home? Maybe this was the done thing if they couldnt get a babysitter.
Now all the pros can come on and say...no they didnt....well how do you bl**dy know???

Great question as usual dave.
And you are so right, when someone decides to lie and then they are found out they need to keep lying to cover-up. It doesn't matter what these vile excuses for parents say because decent folk aren't buying it. The welfare of their children was unimportant because no decent parent would ever consider leaving 'tots' alone knowing how vulnerable they are. And it makes me want to vomit when I hear the cr*p flowing from Clarrie's mouth, what bit do people not get about child neglect? There is nothing wrong with having time on your own away from your children but the decent and normal thing is to provide responsible care and protection! The Mc's have shamed this Country and betrayed the very person who needed them most...
Edit: michael w - No all parents haven't done it, I haven't and no one I know has, the thought makes me shudder when I know how much I love my children. So I suggest you don't include 'all' in your pro-neglect acceptance!

I THOUGHT THE WHOLE IDEA OF A FAMILY HOLIDAY WAS YOU TAKE YOUR CHILDREN WITH YOU NOT LOCK THEM IN AN APARTMENT WHILE YOUR OUT ENJOYING YOURSELF! AND WHY DID'NT BOTH KATE AND GERRY MAKE USE OF THE BABY SITTING SERVICE AT LEAST THEY WOULD'NT BE GOING THROUGH HELL NOW! PERSONALLY I THINK THAT BOTH KATE AND GERRY SHOULD BE DONE FOR NEGLECT WHAT WAS THE POINT OF GOING ON HOLIDAY IF YOUR NOT GOING TO HAVE YOUR CHILDREN WITH YOU! CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG YOU HAVE A FAMILY HOLIDAY TO SPEND QUALITY TIME WITH I.E. CHILDREN NOT TO LOCK THEM IN AN APPARTMENT BY THEM SELFS

Seriously how selfish were Gerry and Kate..........?No more selfish than a lot more parents on holiday i suppose. We have all seen them, dad in the bar playing pool and mother lying on her sunbed topping her tan up.Where are the children?Left to themselves to run riot, more often than not in the pool unsupervised.Or the other one where they are on the beach.Dad reading the paper, mother in her deckchair getting a tan.Where are the children?Little Tommy has wandered off with his bucket to collect some water from the sea for his sandcastle.Or what about when you take your children with you for a meal. The meal is finished and your having a few beers.Children want go outside to play,so you let them because your enjoying the drink and company. Then comes that famous order which nearly always gets ignored."Don't go too far"People in glass-houses----------.

I would not say selfish more like thoughtless. They would be the first to say that on hindsight they would have done things differently. We have all done something like that and got away with it because we did not lose a child as a result. Now they both are paying the terrible price for that and do not need reminding of it by people who do not know them or were not even there at the time.. Yes loads of thumbs down but that's ok if you feel that way

This was not just thoughtlessness, this was planned neglect, not just on the night maddie disappeared, but every night of their holiday.
