whats it called (its like a human characteristic and its bad) like if (in the martian chronicles for example) some one thinks that the martians are going to kill him, so he runs away and they're chasing him and he shoots his gun at them and kills some of them but when he finds out that they just want to give him land, he pretends all that never happened. I'm talking about sam parkhill in November 2005: The off season of the martian chronicles. But what word could i describe that behavior as?

Sam displays classic "Paranoid Personality Disorder." He expects to be mistreated by the Martians, becoming suspicious, secretive, jealous, and argumentative. He doesn't accept blame and appears cold and unemotional when he pretends nothing happened.
