Never ever leave a tampon in for more than 8 hours! Bacteria builds up and this is what can cause TSS (toxic shock syndrom) It is unsanitary and extremely harmful to your body to leave a tampon in for longer than the suggested time. Be sure to read the instructions that come with the tampons. Never ever leave it in for longer! It is so dangerous!

Keeping tampons in for long periods of time is dangerous. They can become infected, usually with streptococcus. This leads to toxic shock syndrome, which is in effect just septicaemia, and is potentially fatal. Best change them frequently, this also means that there is less smell from them.

You are supposed to change your tampon every 4 to 8 hours. If you leave it in any longer than that you are at rist to develope TSS...Toxic Shock Syndrome, which, if not treated properly could be deadly!

No more than 8 hours. Even 7 hours isn't very healthy, because you could get an infection called Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS)
So I'd say around 3-5, depending how heavy your flow is.

Do not ever leave your tampon in for days or weeks, or reuse them(unless their menstrual cup.) (crazy what all these people say.) You should leave your tampon in for 4-6 HOURS. Not days or weeks.

honey please read the directions on the box. according to how your flow is, determines how long you can leave it in for... most likely no longer than 6 hrs. there's a risk for toxic shock syndrome if you one leaves a saturated tampon in too long. those toxins build up in the pools of blood, and get into your blood stream. yes it is deadly. see your doctor for extra information. talk to your mom or best friend, they should be able to help you.
