Lol, If I had to have one without the other, I would prefer salt for most things... But I do love my pepper, and I douse alot of what I eat in it too.....
Ever find when they come up to you at resturaunts and say 'cracked pepper mam' they never give you enough? Its like, dude, that pepper shaker is HUGE! No need to be stingy man!

I use salt and pepper on meat and potatos in about equal amounts. I like to taste the food though so I don't overdo it.

I actually use Tony Chachere's creole seasoning, which has salt, red pepper and garlic. pretty much use this a substitute. not only adding salt but also some spice.

it depends on the object, mashed potatos need both,
corn mostly salt, but some pepper is ok,
popcorn, salt and pepper, but mostly salt,
eggs, both,
O.J. Not just pepper, but cyan pepper when your sick.
it helps you get better.

I hate pepper, but LOVE salt. Thing is, it's bad for your heart...
