Anti Bush Songs

These women were around a long time before Bush but wrote fantastic anti-war songs...FERON, Chris Williams, Kate Wolfe...I hope their songs become popular once again. Of course they were all referring to Vietnam but...if the song fits, sing it!

FERON writes:

They say some men would be warriors and some men would be king
And some men would be owners of land and other man made things
And false love as an eternal flame would lead some to think in rings
And gold would be our power and other foolish things.

On noon on one day comming human strength will fill our streets
Of every city on our planet, hear the sounds of angry feet
With boats frozen in the harbor the kings will pull upon their hair
The banks will shutter to a halt but the artist will be there.

Beware you sagging diplomats for you will not hear one gun
Though our homes be torn and ramsacked, we will not be undone
For as we let ourselves be fought, we're gonna let ourselves be free
And if you think we stand alone, look again and you will see...

We are children in the rafters
We are babies in the park
We are lovers at the movies
We are candles in the dark
We are changes in the weather
We are snowflakes in July
We are women grown together
We are men who easily cry.

FERON made that...I don't know? In the 1970's or '80's?

Masters of War by Bob Dylan

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

Sunday, Bloody Sunday - U2

It has a very strong anti-war theme, as the song was inspired by the Bloody Sunday Massacre on January 30th, 1972, in which 26 people were killed by British Armed Forces in a peace march.

Very powerful song.

Bushleaguer by Pearl Jam on the Riot Act CD
"A confidence man, but why so beleagued?
Hes not a leader, hes a texas leaguer
Swinging for the fence, got lucky with a strike
Drilling for fear, makes the job simple
Born on third, thinks he got a triple"

Rise Against - "State of the Union"

Live video:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=llBEfIfBOvk

Lyrics:
"State Of The Union"

If we're the flagship of peace and prosperity
We're taking on water and about to ******' sink
No one seems to notice, no one even blinks
The crew all left the passengers to die under the sea

[Chorus]
Countdown, to the very end,
Equality, an invitation that we wont extend
Ready aim, pull the trigger now,
in time you firmly secure your place in hell

State of the union address,
reads war torn country still a mess
the words: power, death, and distorted truth
are read between the lines of the red, white, and blue

[Chorus]

Your place in hell [x2]

'Guilty' is what our graves will read,
no years, no family, we did
nothing (nothing) to stop the murder of
a people just like us

...also, "No More Sorrow" is a good anti-war song by Linkin Park

Listen to any of the new albums from Ministry. Even look at the album art. They are severely anti-Bush.
