It seems that the school shouldn't be able to confiscate personal property. My math teacher, for example, will take the phone and charge you $10 to get it back if you're caught texting in class. Can't put my finger on it, but this sounds like it should be illegal to me.

I find it interesting that children think they have any right other than to follow the rules set forth by those in legal charged of them.

You are there to learn without devices that would allow you to cheat on a test.

I used to teach adults in corporate life. I sent people home facing the possibility that they would be fired for not getting the training. Follow the rules or pay the price.

You could go cry to mommy, maybe she will go to school and make a fool of both of you.

Schools are environments run either by the state, private entity or a religious organization for the education of children ages k-12. Administrators and school boards have the right to set the tone of the environment within the perimeters of state and local laws. One of the primary goals of the school is education, not babysitting. You want to text, go home or wait until lunch.

The rights of scholars as against the administration of a school is a grey area. it quite is greater a rely of custom than regulation. in view which you're below 18 i assume and that they are limited from doing maximum of issues to you to get you to stay with the regulations, then they could stretch their imaginations to return up with something they are in a position to do. i assume your college has a rule against cellular telephones so the logical concern to do is for them to take it far off from you. if your discern have been to pass to the college and say "provide me the cellular telephone" I doubt that there is something they (the college) ought to do yet turn it over. i might say that if this style of outrage have been to make all of it the thank you to the final courtroom, the courtroom might say that it is your supplies and the college isn't a criminal enforcement business enterprise like the police so as that they haven't any proper to take your inner maximum supplies far off from you. the college, i assume, is purely attempting to maintain order, and a ringing cellular telephone is opposite to that. might you go with to be chatting which comprise your pal and have that pals telephone ring and then be interrupted and compelled into silence jointly as your pal talks to somebody else? i do no longer think of so. purely pass away the telephone at abode or set all of it day long to silent mode.

The fee is illegal. Taking the phone is not. Read your school handbook. Bet it is covered there. You are one of the reasons schools are trying to prevent them from being carried inside the schools. It only takes a couple people disregarding the rules to hurt everyone.

Indeed if you go to a public school you better make sure you charge her 20 bucks for taking your phone in the first place, theyre not the police force they have no right to touch you or anything belonging to you, the most they can say is put it away or leave the classroom. If not you march right up to them tell them your going to the board of edu, and that you dont think the school system has the right to act as a dictatorship.

Back when I was in school you got hit, then sent down to the principal. Then when you got home you really got in trouble. Don't take your phone to class and you won't get fined.

Sure, it is very illegal.

But then again you shouldn't text in class. You should remove yourself from the class room if you need to use your mobile phone (that's common sense after all).
