You might be thinking of "Not Quite Human" with Alan Thicke from "Growing Pains". Same Father, different son, Jay Underwood.

If you're thinking of "D.A.R.Y.L." (1985), as a person above has suggested, that wasn't Kirk Cameron; it was Barret Oliver (the actor who played Bastian in "The NeverEnding Story", David in "Cocoon", etc.).
I can't think of any movie with Kirk Cameron as a robot.

It was THE COMPUTER WORE TENNIS SHOES and it was produced in 1995.
And techncially he wasn't a robot, just some kid that was accidently loaded up with a set of encyclopedias.
