Right now, my internet cable is going through many splitters. It is also disconnecting very often when I am downloading large files. Can too many splitters weaken the internet signal so that it disconnects when I transfer large files?

My husband says you lose up to a third of your signal per splitter.....it is best to have the shortest possible cable to the pole from the modem. Hope this helps!

I was also informed the type of splitter matters, if you buy one from Radio Shack it is gonna slow you down and drop signal!
I would go to Best Buy or Circuit City to get a splitter, also get a bigger spliiter so you can reduce the number of splitters you have

Splitters are very problematic.
You need a Router, and your computer needs it's own connection and your download problems will go away.

You can't put it through splitters. You need one dsl filter connected to every phone on the line, plus one filter on the dsl modem or router. This can handle a phone as well. Your dsl filter must go straight to the line.

In a word, yes. A separate run is recommended for your Internet modem/router.
