I love the way they look and I can make them but how does one use them everyday, wash them often and yet keep them looking nice and fresh like how they were first done up? Is it possible?

I would do hand embroidery. I don't like the look of machine embroidery. It looks cheap.

Don't use the towels on really dirty things, just stuff like drying clean glassware. Use a gentle detergent, not the heavy duty stuff that's meant to scrub out color as well as dirt. Use a gentle cycle to protect your embroidery.

i am assuming you are using machine embroidery. make sure you use polyester thread instead of rayon. rayon has a nicer sheen but the polyester will hold up better. since you can make them yourself go ahead and treat yourself and use them. they aren't that expensive to make and it's a great way to practice all those awesome designs you are collecting. here is a great site for machine embroidery.

That is all that I use in my kitchen. The others are correct - no bleach, and don't use them to wipe up cranberry juice, but other than that, they are versatile and soft. And nothing dries glassware better!

Don't use bleach on them. Maybe once in a while iron them?
