Controlling the masses. Modern Democrats are socialists and collectivists. Modern Democrats have nothing in common with individualism that this country's founders supported.

Democrat politicians think they are smarter than the citizens of this country.

Democrats call themselves liberals but they are not really liberals. Classical liberalists (like George Washington) did not support "modern liberal" thinking.

Just recently, Democrats tried to sneak a law through congress that would ban specific words from being spoken. If that is not controlling, I don't know what is.

In a nutshell?

The prevention of the separation of society into an aristocracy and a proletariat.

And when you throw in protection of personal liberty and freedom from arbitrary treatment at the hands of private entities, you get the hysterical backlash that we've been experiencing ever since the "Reagan Revolution".

It is simply to have the government provide for the citizens rather than the citizens provide for the country. If this were kept to a minimum it would be a good idea. If this is overused by the citizens we become a weak society that will only be conditioned to rely on the government and not ourselves.

#1 Restore the Constitution
#2 get out of Iraq and use our military to go after the terroists, instead of invading countries tha thave not attacked us.
#3 stop the deficit spending
#4 stop kowtowing to countries like China by allowing them to send us poisoed toys, etc.

BTW: take a real good look: those are all things conservatives USED to support.

#5 immigration reform, including guest worker and path-to-citizenship procedures. Stop allowing companises to break the law hiring illegals and get away with it by giving "campaign contributions" to the right-wing.

#6 stop protecting the fossil fuel industry at the expense of national security (dependance on foreign oil) and the environment.

#7 to the extent we need social programs, start suporting people instead of giving billions in subsidies to the oil and drug industries.

#8 Start enforcing thelaws abot htings like worker safety in mines, drug safety, etc.--instead of allowing unethical businesses to murder their workers

#9 revise trade relationships to stop sending American jobs overseas.

#10 fix the health care system. BTW--that doesn't have to mean socialized medicine. But unless the conservatives start putting forward some real ideas, instead of political rants, that's what we are going to get--because right now, that's the only kind of reform proposal to fix this mess. If the cons don't like it, cut the BS and start offering some real ideas of their own (do they even have any?).

Final note--the latter group are also things conservatives used to endorse--they differed with liberals on method, not on the objectives.

IMHO, it SHOULD be never to let religion interfere with politics. Also, to be always open to change, and open to new influences, ideas, ethnic groups, etc. In other words, not let the status quo and/or religion take over the common interest.
