I'm curious how a satellite 80 times the weight of the earth that is moving at more than 3 and a half thousand kmph around the earth can split in half all of a sudden and yet nobody else on earth witnessed this event (which is just yesterday considering the age of the earth). Is there any other literature that states that this happened(besides from the Quran-Im an ex muslim by the way,so I don't find Islamic literature reliable at all).

Can anyone show me proof that the moon split in two around 1400 years ago?And I mean solid scientific proof, not "it happened cause the Quran said so" .

I'd like to hear the opinion of muslims and non-muslims alike on this, thanks

This question has far more problems than most people have raised.
If the moon split - where are the parts supposed to be ?
Most people do not realise that the Earth does not orbit the Sun.
The Earth and Moon together orbit the Sun. If the Moon changed its mass - the Earth would fly away from the Sun until we all froze to death, because the Mass of the Moon adds to the Suns attraction upon us, and keeps us in our present orbit.
The Earth and Moon spin about the balance point which is not between the Earth and Moon, but 4,700 Km below the surface of the Earth.
Those who mentioned Joshua and Sun standing still missed out the Moon standing still also. The obvious manner in which this was done, was the temporary holding of the Earths surface, whilst the liquid core continued to spin.
A God big enough to create a universe complete, in a few days, can hold a world still. A dummy who makes bangs that end up with Suns and subsequent evolution does not have the required expertise in my opinion !

One apparent splitting of the Moon was witnessed by a monk (as I remember it) in the middle ages. He wrote his observations down but he and any other witnesses of that night's events would have been wise to tell no one because the church might have excommunicated them, or worse, for their trouble.

It seems that he was looking at a normally waxing or waning Moon. He wrote that he saw the two 'horns' of the Moon separate. What he witnessed is now understood as a meteoric impact on the Moon's surface that jettisoned rock and dust high above the surface, creating a shadow area (as dark to our eyes as the night sky behind the Moon). To this monk, part of the Moon 'disappeared' as though it were no longer there. When the rock and dust returned to the Moon's surface, the picture of the 'whole' Moon as seen from Earth returned to normal.

Instead of laughing at the oddness of other people's observations, we should analyse and try to understand them. Religions are not the only source of superstition and ignorance - every thinking human being can make the decision as to whether to be broad minded or not.

There is a theory that billions of years ago an asteroid collided with the earth creating the moon (which is not 80 times the weight of the earth) and helping to slow our spin apart from that i havent a clue.

I certainly doubt that anything like a split moon occured 1400 years ago as the scars would be very visable today

the folk needed him to show that he became right into a prophet of God, they pronounced that each and every of the prophets till now him have been able to produce miracles and if he claimed to be one then he ought to have the skill to do one too. He did no longer understand the thank you to do a miracle on his very own, so he prayed to God and Allah swt informed Muhammed to easily raise his index finger into the air and by making use of that with the desire of Allah swt the moon became into chop up inhalf. Even after it became into achieved, the folk did no longer believe him, they pronounced as him no longer something extra effective than an illusionist, a pretend. so as that they pronounced they're going to wait till ultimately next morning to the folk coming into city to verify in the event that they witnessed it. the 1st travellers got here into city at first mild and that they asked him in the event that they observed the moon being chop up and that they spoke back "confident!!" that they had no thought what became into occurring or the way it became into available yet they observed it. the folk from Muhammed's city then pronounced "Oh Muhammed's illusions confident reached far" Even theough they observed it with their very own eyes they did no longer believe it. it is magnificent from the a number of responses above me, the folk who observed it did no longer believe it and pronounced as him a faux, those people who did no longer even see it are making jokes. pfft. they are one an the comparable.

The moons 80 times the weight of the earth?
I think your sums are somewhat askew dear boy

On the other topic-where is the proof that God made the sun dance at Fatama?

The moon is required to keep life on this planet. If it split we would all be dead.
In Joshua it is said the sun stood still in the middle of the day.
For God to send an astroid of light and keep the sky lite up would be pretty easy for someone who made sun, moons and planets. But we know a scientific impossibility for the sun to stand still. The earth would have burned up.
So it was recorded as these ancient prophets saw it.
Not as an actuall happening. The moon controls the tides and balances the gravity pull to keep us all on the planet.
It has to stay exactly as it is for life to exist on this planet.

well I've heard that the moon was part of the earth and split off during the creation of the planets...so it's half there...as I'm sure that the earth was made in more than 6 days...well it would have to be now adays what with the unions, pay deals...health and saftey issues...

sorry, I know this isnt scientific, but it sounds like a load of crap to me. If the moon split in 2 at one point, I think there would be a LOT of evidence showing just that. Logically, it makes no sence. If we can find evidence of hurricanes and floods and stuff from millions of years ago, I think we would be able to see wether or not the moon split in 2 1400 years ago. And how did it come back together??? Thats complete B.S. Sorry!
