I just bought an item on ebay at about noon eastern time and the person has sent it. I am wondering, does USPS ship the package on sundays. I do not mean do they deliver it on sundays, but if thy ship it on the weekends. If so when should the package arrive if it was 2-3 days from California to East Coast.

Thanks

I do have a tracking number but when I type it in it says it doesn't exist. I guess it hasn't left the plant.

The service was USPS Priority Mail 2-3 Day Delivery.

I received an email from Paypal saying it was sent and then I received an email from the seller and it gave me the tracking code.

Most likely, they just printed out the shipping label on Sunday to get ready for Monday. I don't think there are any post offices open on Sundays so it won't be going anywhere Sunday.
I have done well with shipping across the country and normal times are 2-3 days (including Saturdays)

Did the person actually email you and tell you that it was sent, or did you get one of those automated eBay emails, which does not mean an item was actually shipped but that the sender has acknowledged your payment and will ship?

I'm a carrier, and my office was open today for four or five hours for people to come in and ship, but I can't speak for California. If the package is sent Priority Mail in the morning from California, delivery would normally be attempted in the east on the third business day. With the Christmas rush on, it wouldn't unreasonable to add an extra day or two (still faster than UPS Ground), but with the major storms here in the northeast causing travel and shipping delays and backlogs, another day or two to the delivery time can be expected.
