They have the ultimate recycling program. They take them back to the nest, extract what food is available and dispose of the remains just outside the entrance. The same as any other unusable food waste.

And yes that includes injured ants that can not do their jobs.

They take them to the midden, sort of a garbage dump for ants, that lies just outside the entry to the colony.
